Businesses across industries are learning how to best apply AI within their systems to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and unlock deeper insights. Catalyser has identified multiple scenarios where AI can streamline workflows, lower development effort, and deliver greater visibility and insight across the platform.

As the new user experience is introduced, Catalyser will need to support companies in migrating existing data from the legacy platform—or from external systems—into the new ecosystem. To address this, we identified AI as an effective solution for automating the creation and population of users, records, and content across the platform.

To guide this process, I mapped the ideal AI conversation flow, outlining how the system can intelligently collect inputs, validate data, and execute migrations with minimal manual effort.

Insights & Report 


Insights and reporting give companies clear visibility into the performance and outcomes of their volunteering and fundraising campaigns. It surfaces key metrics and trends, these features enable organisations to better plan, forecast, and allocate time and budgets for the next quarter.

We started by designing a page that surfaces key metrics through clear graphs and data visualisations, reflecting what companies most want to track. From there, we explored how an AI-powered chat experience could enable managers to generate and customise reports themselves, allowing insights to be created on demand.

Ai-powered for insights & reporting

For an AI-powered insights and reporting system to be effective, we recognised that users need clear guidance on what the system can do. Our goal was to empower users to generate their own reports—unlocking insights that are more relevant and valuable than anything that could be pre-defined or hard-coded into the platform.

 

Onboarding users for AI-powered systems required them to understand the value, functionality, and proper use of the tools.

 

Strategies we were considering include:

1. Clear Introduction to Benefits

  • Highlight what the AI can do and how it solves the user's pain points.

  • Use videos, infographics, or interactive tutorials to demonstrate value quickly.

2. Simplified Onboarding Process

  • Make account creation or setup easy and intuitive.

  • Provide step-by-step guidance with tooltips or progress indicators.
     

3. Interactive Tutorials

  • Use scenario-based guides that let users explore key features.

  • Incorporate "try it yourself" exercises to reinforce learning.

  • ​

We also wanted to introduce a reporting system that allowed them  to save reports, create scheduling to send to relevant personnel to view the stats and results.

​

This feature was presented to users and though they can't deny the value an Ai-powered system brings, they wanted to see graphs and charts that reflected the metrics without needing to ask Ai for it.
